Introducing “Asset Management for Social Housing” – an online asset management guide specifically developed for social housing providers.
This comprehensive resource is a vital tool for strategic and operational planning and delivery. The guide will be useful for:
- Asset managers
- Executive managers such as the CEO, CFO, tenancy manager, development manager
- Governing bodies
Asset management is a whole of organisation responsibility and it’s important that senior management and governing bodies also understand their role in the stewardship of housing assets.
As an electronic resource the “Asset Management for Social Housing” is available across all devices (PC, laptops, tablets, mobile phones) meaning it is always accessible. It is searchable and permits notetaking. A community of practice will be available as a space where practitioners can ask questions of other practitioners and provide feedback to improve the guide.
Available for individuals and organisations.
Organisations: a nominated person purchases multiple subscriptions to create a ‘pool’ and allocates logins to those who need them. That person can remove the login of someone who has left and reallocate that subscription to a new person. They can buy additional subscriptions to add to their pool as needed. Just add multiples to the cart at purchase.
Payment in a range of currencies is available – simply choose your preference from the currency selector on the left of this webpage.
Why a Specialist Guide?
Social housing assets:
- Are peoples’ homes
- Are a means by which investment is made in communities to enable individuals and communities to thrive
- Represent the wealth of social housing providers (SHPs) and by extension that of their communities and of their nations; and
- Make a net positive economic contribution to the community.
The wealth embodied in social housing assets requires careful stewardship:
- Housing is long-lived (up to 100 years)
- The design and quality of housing can have an immense impact on those who live in it and the communities that it serves
- The financial commitment required to procure housing is very large
- Without appropriate care this wealth can be lost and fewer people will be assisted
- Housing has an impost on the environment and there is an urgent need to reduce its impact.
The Manual is the initiative of RMIT University, the Australasian Housing Institute, Āpōpō – Infrastructure Asset Management Professionals and Swinburne University of Technology, with contributions from people within many other organisations.
