Waters Infrastructure Programme is a finalist project in the Waters category of the 2023 Asset Management Excellence Awards.
The Ara Poutama Aotearoa Waters Infrastructure Programme was born from the cultural and regulatory shift in expectations of these assets are managed. It lays the foundations to increase asset management maturity at all 18 custodial sites across the motu and deliver better outcomes.
The Ara Poutama Aotearoa Waters Infrastructure Programme was born from the cultural and regulatory shift in expectations of how three waters assets are managed, seeking a solution to the industry-wide environment of historical underinvestment in three waters assets now rising to the challenges of future resiliency, climate change, and an uplift in regulatory and legislative obligations. Our challenge was to identify the current state of three waters assets at all 18 custodial sites across the motu and determine a preferred programme option to address risk, meet new obligations, close performance gaps, and further develop asset management capability.
