We are excited to announce several updates to the Āpōpō Professional Practice Accreditation Programme, making it more accessible and aligned with international standards in asset management.
Self-assessment now open to all
One of the key changes is that anyone can now undertake the self-assessment process – it’s no longer limited to Āpōpō members. That means that anyone can now reflect on their own competency in asset management. The self-assessment is available here.
The application form has also been made into a Word document, as we heard from applicants they would prefer to chip away at it, and gather supporting documents offline. You can now download the Word document, save it on your computer, and complete it at your own pace.
Alignment with GFMAM’s Asset Management Landscape (third edition)
The Āpōpō Professional Practice Accreditation Programme uses the Global Forum on Maintenance and Asset Management (GFMAM) Asset Management Landscape as a base. The AM Landscape was recently updated, so we have also revised our framework. This update represents an important step towards future alignment with the World Partners in Asset Management (WPiAM) global certification scheme.
Revised Competency Requirements
The technical and community competency requirements for AMCP have been adjusted. Instead of needing 27 out of 39 technical competencies and 4 out of 6 community competencies, applicants can now meet any 23 out of 46 competencies. The competencies are described in the Āpōpō Competency Framework.
Key process updates
We are working to ensure that Āpōpō accreditation is approved by WPiAM so we can issue internationally recognised certifications. You can read more about the WPiAM global certification scheme here.
Looking ahead
These updates mark significant progress in making the Āpōpō Professional Practice Accreditation Programme accessible and relevant to a broader audience. While we anticipate additional improvements as we work towards WPiAM alignment, we’re focused on encouraging applications under this updated process.
