Come along to kōrero, ask questions, and connect with others who are new to working in infrastructure asset management. Hear from a subject matter expert and network with fellow asset managers who are new to the workplace.

Kanishk was the recipient of the 2024 AECOM IMNZ Young Leaders Scholarship with Āpōpō. Kanishk will talk us through his career journey to Asset Management, his most recent milestone being becoming an Asset Management Associate with Āpōpō in late 2024!

As part of his scholarship, he is undertaking formal leadership coaching through IMNZ, so we will hear how that is going so far as well as some of his career highlights to date.

Kanishk Garg, AMA

Engineer – Network Management at WSP

Kanishk is a dynamic asset management professional with 3 years of diverse experience across various roles, such as working in major alliances like Wellington Transport Alliance (WTA) as well as small/medium transport projects. From February 2023 to August 2024, Kanishk was an integral part of WTA, which maintains and operates the state highway network and assets in the Greater Wellington Region. Here, he demonstrated his ability to explore innovative technologies, streamline processes, and implement best practices to enhance sustainability, operational performance, and stakeholder value.

He has consistently leveraged his skills to develop and implement sustainable solutions that not only improve operational efficiency but also significantly reduce environmental impact. Driven by a passion for sustainability and continuous improvement, Kanishk is committed to identifying and executing solutions that create lasting value for all stakeholders.

He began his career as a Process Engineer Climate Change in New Zealand’s dairy industry working in collaboration with Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority of New Zealand, where he developed a strong foundation in sustainability and process design & optimisation. In 2023, he transitioned to WSP to delve into Asset Management, further broadening his expertise.
