We are excited to be bringing Peter Nunns, Acting GM of Strategy at the New Zealand Infrastructure Commission, Te Waihanga, to you to brief us on the development of the National Infrastructure Plan and highlight some of the Commission’s work that is currently underway.
New Zealand faces some big challenges. We can’t afford to build the infrastructure we need to solve them all. To help address some of those challenges, Te Waihanga has been asked by the Government to develop a long-term National Infrastructure Plan that will build on the New Zealand Infrastructure Strategy and set out what’s already planned to be spent on both looking after existing infrastructure and investment intentions. He’ll share some of the Commission’s emerging thinking on determining future infrastructure needs.
He’ll also give an update on the Infrastructure Priorities Programme (IPP) that was rolled out by Te Waihanga in August. The IPP puts in place a standard and independent process to help address some of the big infrastructure challenges that New Zealand faces. This will provide a menu of high-quality vetted proposals that is available to decision-makers. It is not limited to projects – but could also include initiatives that avoid the need for costly new investments. Endorsed proposals will be included in the National Infrastructure Plan.
There will be time for questions at the end of the presentation.
Book your spot to be part of this discussion and learn more about how your organisation might benefit from this programme. Te Waihanga encourages you to be innovative and think outside the box on solutions to our long list of challenges in infrastructure.
