IPWEA Aotearoa is delighted to announce that it has appointed Murray Pugh as Chief Executive following an extensive search to identify a suitable successor to Peter Higgs. Peter took up a new role as Principal Engineer, Waipā District Council at the end of 2020.
President of IPWEA Aotearoa, Myles Lind says, “We have very bold aspirations here at IPWEA NZ. Murray’s overall brief is one of building value, leveraging our proud history, and leading our transition into an increasingly digital and online world for our members. Murray will be joining a highly motivated team, and I’ve no doubt that his previous experience of business leadership, commercial development and continuous improvement make him an incredible asset to our members and the greater IPWEA whanau.”
Mr Pugh joins IPWEA NZ from FairWay Resolution Limited, where he was Chief Financial Officer. Prior roles have included Head of Marketing and Strategy at NZ Post, Chief Executive at Stephenson & Turner Architects, alongside consulting positions in Meridian and Deloitte. Mr Pugh holds degrees in both law and commerce, is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors.
Mr Pugh says “Our IPWEA NZ members are at the forefront of the challenges facing New Zealand as we head further into the 2020’s. Trust in our professionalism, climate change reality, global pandemic constraints, authentic Te Tiriti o Waitangi partnership, and intergenerational investment all require our attention as we, as a nation, address current infrastructure deficits and the future needs of our communities. What an exciting time to be at the forefront of leveraging our existing public works and delivering those of tomorrow. I am looking forward to playing a small part in this vital mahi alongside the awesome IPWEA NZ team.”
Mr Pugh will officially take up the role on 18 January.
