We are thrilled to announce that Āpōpō Past-President, Priyani de Silva-Currie, has been elected by the 16 member countries of the International Federation of Municipal Engineering (IFME) as Vice President for the 2024-2027 term.  As Vice President, Priyani will later take up the Presidency of IFME for the 2027-2030 term.

Priyani commences her role at the IFME Future Green City World Congress, to be held in Utrecht, Netherlands, in September this year.

We are extremely proud of Priyani’s achievement, and excited to continue growing our relationship with IFME, and expanding our international connections across the world.

Priyani’s role also means that Āpōpō will host the 23rd triennial IFME World Congress, in either 2029 or 2030. Though it seems far away, we have already commenced planning and are looking forward to welcoming asset management professionals and municipal officials from around the globe to Aotearoa New Zealand.

Āpōpō is a long-standing country member of IFME.  Āpōpō Life Member Ross Vincent held the Presidency in 2015 for the IFME World Congress hosted in Rotorua which attracted over 200 international delegates and almost 500 New Zealand attendees.

We regularly bring our members learning opportunities from this global organisation delivered by its member organisations. Priyani has represented Āpōpō at IFME for 9 years, most recently leading their Marketing and Communications initiatives to deliver global connections for technical and non-technical knowledge sharing.

Guided by her vision and sentiment “Together Strong” Priyani is ready to lead IFME into a new era!

“United, we shall forge a lasting legacy of international collaboration and sustainable practice, setting the standard for Municipal Engineering and Asset Management excellence at IFME.”
