Since launching the Āpōpō Guide in October 2023, we’ve remained committed to providing our members with excellent guidance that speaks directly to Aotearoa New Zealand’s unique asset management needs.
As we continue to grow and engage with the wider international asset management community, Āpōpō is proud to announce that the Guide, along with our accreditation scheme and digital badges, now tightly aligns with the Global Forum for Maintenance and Asset Management (GFMAM) Asset Management Landscape – third edition. This alignment ensures our members benefit from guidance that reflects both global best practices and local context.
What Does This Mean for the Āpōpō Guide?
Earlier in the year we released an interim step, which mapped the Guide’s structure to the Landscape’s structure. This is now the next step: each section in the Āpōpō Guide matches the placement of the relevant subject in the GFMAM Landscape, along with references to the ISO 55000 suite, creating a seamless reference to recognised international standards. For example, “2.6. Risk” in the GFMAM framework appears as “2.6. Risk” within the Āpōpō Guide, and references ISO 55002 Annex E (Risk management in the context of ISO 55001), providing an intuitive structure for members to navigate complex asset management topics.
However, the Āpōpō Guide does more than reflect global AM principles. Each section contextualises this international guidance with insights from te ao Māori and New Zealand-specific practices, reflecting a holistic and local approach to asset management. Our goal remains to provide our members with resources that are both globally relevant and locally resonant.
